Born and raised in Sydney, I love to learn about how things work and build better, more automated ways of doing things. I particularly enjoy thinking about deep, technical problems - even more so if it’ll make a positive difference to the community.
Throughout my journey, I’ve worked with a range of technologies and will jump at the opportunity to learn new ones!
Undertaking a PhD with the Robotic Imaging Group within the Australian Centre for Robotics to develop new methods for change detection in 3D environments. By drawing upon high-fidelity representations such as 3D Gaussian Splatting, this will allow robotic platforms to better understand their surroundings and make improved decisions. See my postgraduate prizes and scholarships.
Completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) and Science with majors in Space Engineering and Chemistry. See my undergraduate prizes and scholarships.
Completed my honours thesis on Neural Radiance Fields, an emerging AI model that learns a scene representation. I showed that depth priors collected by autonomous vehicles can be used during training to significantly improve the learned scene’s geometry. This has implications for downstream applications such as motion planning and navigation.
Interned as a Summer Student at Cochlear Limited. Developed firmware to drive wireless module testing using Bluetooth Low Energy in collaboration with other members of the Smart Hearing Alliance. I also became familiar with agile methodology, using platforms such as JIRA, Confluence and Perforce.
Tutored introductory Python (ENGG1810/INFO1110) and control engineering (AMME3500) units at Sydney University.
Interned at Jacaranda Flame Consulting. Developed software on top of the Tekla Structures Open API to automate 3D modelling for a client. Subject to non-disclosure agreement.
Interned with the Robotic Imaging Group within the Australian Centre for Robotics to devise a highly automated, data-driven algorithm for calibrating a 3D hyperspectral camera. The proposed method draws upon light field theory to create correspondences between line-scan hyperspectral image and world coordinates. This could revolutionise perception by allowing fusion of geometric and spectral information from a scene. See photos.
Completed a research internship at Sydney University to design algorithms for automating pick-and-place tasks using a Yumi ABB dual-arm robot, and Python APIs for MoveIt! and OpenCV. I helped pair-program a robust algorithm that could detect, stack and disassemble 30 Jenga blocks in a tower. See it in action.
Awarded an honourable mention in Sydney University Mechatronics Organisation’s Hackathon for my strong systems-thinking mindset. Prototyped a wearable device that provides audio prompts to improve in-store navigation.
Tutored Physics and Chemistry at Zhang’s HSC Coaching. I also helped run homework and school assessment helpdesks both in-person and online.
Volunteered at events including Burwood Festival and Leukaemia Foundation’s Light the Night.
Graduated as Dux of James Ruse Agricultural High School. See my academic achievements.
Taught voluntary maths mentoring classes before school and during lunches.
Completed Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
